This original 1950s bridal gown features a heavy guipure lace bodice over a high-luster silk satin lining.
The bodice is constructed from a dense, floral guipure lace with a scalloped neckline and a defined basque waistline that creates a sharp, architectural transition to the skirt.
The sleeves have been redesigned as a short gathered sleeve from the same era but lined in silk satin to protect the lace. The skirt consists of layers of fine tulle over a silk satin base, accented with scattered floral lace appliqués, some with a rhinestone centre.
This gown was originally worn by a bride named Merlene in the 1950s. By restoring the delicate lace and redesigning the sleeves for a modern fit, this piece continues its history, moving from Merlene’s wedding day to a new chapter.
This dress has been carefully cleaned, and is in great vintage condition.
